To make the vases, I simply painted glass jars that had a previous life containing baby food, jam, soy sauce, and kombucha.

For paint, I used two color samples that I had left over from painting the bedrooms upstairs. I then mixed the colors until I got the right shade.

To mix the paint, I used another baby food jar. I loved the size of the baby food containers.

I didn’t get too caught up in removing all of the label from the jars. They added some texture to the jars, and would have taken hours to remove.

I used various jar types and shapes to create visual interest for the floral centerpiece.

And in the end, though they didn’t turn out perfect, they were perfectly unique and thoughtful. Further, they proved a great alternative to the cheap, throwaway favors that are currently available. So it is a win-win for you and the planet, and I highly recommend giving it a shot!
