Before and after… dining room update
In the dining area we tore down the wall separating the kitchen from the dining room. This was important to us because we spend so much time in the kitchen and didn’t want that room to feel closed off from the rest of the house.
We also installed floating shelves. When you have a small space it is important to keep furniture from eating up the space. So floating shelves provide storage while keeping the floor open- a happy medium!
Before…
After!
You’ll notice we got rid of a window. Gasp! Why would we get rid of a window? Well actually, it was a window into the mudroom. The addition must have been put on after the window was installed, and they chose to leave it in for some reason. So we covered it up and installed a floating shelf for our glassware.
I also had dreams of doing a full gallery wall on the blue painted wall. But, spoiler alert, art is expensive. Though, a nice tip to share is that all the paintings I featured in this photo (not the dried flowers, which I did), were purchased from Goodwill. Goodwill is a great place to find art, especially their online website, shop.goodwill.com.
Definitely check it out, you’ll find some gems that are way less expensive than what you would see in a gallery.
